Thank You For Praying!

I'm home, and will be sending out a report to each of you soon; thank you for your prayers! We saw a great deal of specific prayer answered during our visit. Hundreds and hundreds of children and adults came to Christ during our visit, and we know that there will be follow up and discipleship taking place within the weeks to come. It is incredible to see how God is using these shoe boxes to transform nations in one generation!

Glory to God!

Pray that as a result of sharing the stories from Uganda, many will receive His burden to go.

The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Gospelteering

UGANDA MISSION: DAY 07

I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem. I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out. And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.
(Job 29:12-17)

Today is our final distribution. As we deliver shoe boxes, pray that by Christ's might we would break the jaws of the enemy and rescue these lost ones, leading them to Jesus. Pray for us as we board our flight: we lift off African soil at 3:30pm Central Standard Time, and arrive in Amsterdam at 11:45pm

A Light Shines

UGANDA MISSION: DAY 06

Today we will be in an area that has been filled with witchcraft, sorcery, and Islam. The Light has begun to penetrate into this darkness, and a church of 100 has been established recently. Pray for an openness to the Gospel wherever we go. Pray for the laborers in these fields who have courageously pioneered into areas where once none dared enter.

 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. (Isaiah 9:2)

Establishing His Kingdom

 UGANDA MISSION: DAY 06

Posted by Picasa
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? (Isaiah 58:6)

Today we will be participating in shoe box distributions at two churches, one of which runs a school that is free of tuition. Lack of education is a big problem that continues the cycle of poverty in Uganda. For a child to go to school, parents must pay school fees that cost nearly half their income, as well as supply 3 school items: a pencil, a pen, and a notebook. These they simply cannot afford.

Pray for the churches seeking to provide free education to these kids. Pray that the work done here would loose the bands of wickedness, undo heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke.

From Seed to Oak

UGANDA MISSION: DAY 04

Today we will be delivering our first batch of shoe boxes at a church in another slum. This church body meets every day at noon for an hour of prayer and worship, and is very burdened for the needs around them. Please pray for the children from the community who will be invited to this distribution, that their hearts would be open to accept the Gospel message we will share with them. Pray that the enemy would not be able to snatch away the Seed that is planted, and pray that they will be like well watered plants. Pray that...

they will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the Lord
    that He may be glorified.

The best part is: he hasn't even opened his box yet!

Making Disciples

UGANDA MISSION: DAY 03

Today we will be on site at a Greatest Journey Discipleship class at a church in a slum community of Muslims and Catholics. After receiving a shoe box, many children have the opportunity to enroll in The Greatest Journey Discipleship course, a 12 week class that teaches the children about Christ, following Him, and sharing the Good News with others.

This church ministers to 300 children, some of whom are boys that were rescued from the war in Sudan. Pray for the love and healing of Christ to penetrate into the hearts of these children, and that they would be emboldened to share the Gospel with their community. Pray also that God would provide resources and laborers for the ministry of this church.

This video shares more about The Greatest Journey and the impact it is having on hundreds of thousands across the world.

Take the Sword

It cannot be stated too frequently that the life of a Christian is a warfare, an intense conflict, a lifelong contest. It is a battle, moreover, waged against invisible foes, who are ever alert, and ever seeking to entrap, deceive, and ruin the souls of men. The life to which Holy Scripture calls men is no picnic, or holiday junketing. It is no pastime, no pleasure jaunt. It entails effort, wrestling, struggling; it demands the putting forth of the full energy of the spirit in order to frustrate the foe and to come off, at the last, more than conqueror. It is no primrose path, no rose-scented dalliance. From start to finish, it is war. From the hour in which he first draws sword, to that in which he doffs his harness, the Christian warrior is compelled to “endure hardness like a good soldier.”
– EM Bounds –

Pray for our team as we leave tomorrow, heading into the heat of the battle. Pray that, despite 22 hours of flight time, we would be sharp, energetic, ready, and more than conquerors in Christ Jesus.

GO!

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent?

Therefore, GO!

Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Romans 10:14-15; Mark 16:15
